Multani mitti/mati experiment

I read that Multani mitti [India's fuller's earth clay] is a good mask for oily skin. For people prone to acne break-outs, this clay mask absorbs the oil and tighten your pores. Caution (of course), just once a week is advised; skin produces more oil to replenish the loss of oil.

My First experiment:

*Facial Mask*

My skin is a combination of dry/oily(typical oily area, my t-zone)

"Personal recipe" Ingredients:1 Tbsp multani mitti, 1 Tbsp rose h2o, plus 1tsp of honey, I made a paste and applied it to damp face.

After 10 minutes I rinsed with cool water, patted dry with a paper towel. It left a smoothness to my skin that i love. This will definitely be a mainstay. For my second experiment I'll use the multani with yogurt for a natural cleanser. Ingredients: 1 tbsp yogurt plus 1 tsp multani mitti.

I'll try this experiment much later in the week.

Another useful *neem* tip.

So this summer my husband noticed holes on the leaves in the flower pots. We suspected insects. I remembered reading somewhere that neem oil (from the seeds) can be used as a non toxic garden spray. I decided to brew a strong neem tea; using just distilled water and neem herbal powder. I put the cooled tea in a sprayer bottle. The leaves were sprayed every two days. The flowers flourished.

Homemade Neem Hand Sanitizer

Items needed: Rubbing alcohol, aloe vera gel, ex "Banana boat",or "fruit of the earth", Neem powder, Fragrance oil(optional), glass bottle with dropper, plastic bottle with flip top.

A)First soak 1Tsp of neem powder in about 2-3 ozs of rubbing alcohol. Stir the powdered herb occasionally so that it is well saturated in the alcohol. Since rubbing alcohol is a stronger solvent than witch hazel, the extraction will have a distinctly green color. This indicates that the neem anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties have been extracted. Dont worry about staining. You will only have to use a few drops. Strain through a stocking material to get rid of the particles.Put your herbal extraction in a glass bottle, preferably one with a dropper. Click on link below for an example:
http://www.herbalremedies.com/dropper-bottle-amber.html

B)Next fill a 2 oz plastic bottle(flip top) with the aloe vera gel. Leave enough room to squeeze at least 1 dropper full of the neem extraction. Hold bottle top down and shake vigorously, enabling the neem extract to completely blend with the aloe vera.
Example of a 2 oz bottle with a flip top; click on link below.

You may keep the excess neem extract in the glass bottle in your medicine cabinet. Place a sticker on the bottle and label it as a precaution. Because of the alcohol, this herbal extract will last indefinitely.

Multani Mitti (clay)

Multani Mitti is a colloidal mineral -rich clay, usually found in the northwestern region of india.

*Has gentle cleansing properties for both hair and skin.

*Usually used as a mineral rich face mask able to absorb impurities, and remove dead skin cells.

*It can help improve circulation.*Can be drying especially to extremely dry skin, better suited for normal and oily skin.
As a face mask Instructions on the box suggest: For oily skin, add water to a little bit of the powdered multani to make a paste. For dry skin use milk instead of water. My personal tip. I mix a little powdered multani to aloe vera gel, then apply it to my extremely dry skin. After a few short minutes rinse with cool water then pat dry.
*Caution: Avoid contact with eyes. Should contact occur rinse immediatley with water.Although ingredients are natural, remember it is still possible to be allergic to anything applied to your skin.. Do not use on sensitive skin.

A little info about Hesh Ayurvedic Herbs

Hesh herbal brand herbs are ground into a fine powder. To use these herbs (A) Soak in water over-night; Ex, Add 2 tbsp Aritha powder to about 1 Liter of water; strain through cheese cloth then pour over hair and scalp.
(B) Add about 1 tbsp of the Amla herbs to about a cup of your moisturizing conditioners. Use one of your cheaper more liquidy conditioner. Makes a perfect conditioner wash. Adding the conditioner to the herbs makes it easier to rinse. (C) Some people make a paste, similar to a henna paste. To me this is the least popular application. It's usually harder to rinse out the paste, especially if you have thick hair. Also, the messy grit over time can be hard on your plumbing.
